VNC & firewall - which ports to open?
I have my workstation within a firewall, and I want to connect to a VNC server. Which ports do I need to open for that? bye Ronald Ronald Wiplinger (ÃQ¤¯¯Ç), CEO, ELMIT - The Solution Provider Tel. +886 2 8809-7980, Fax. +886 2 2809-0183, Mobile: +886 915 653-452 Net2Phone:8869550066, ICQ: 111651169 http://www.elmit.com http://www.wiplinger.org

VNC display " :0 " Is on port 6000. It goes up from there: :1 == 6001 :2 == 6002 :3 == 6003 and so on...

are you sure it starts at 6000? You might be confusing things with X-Windows? I believe the VNC ports start at 5900. In fact, check here: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/sshvnc.html

I used to open up 5900 to 5999. Probably more than was needed but it worked ok. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S.
