The installation guide for SuSE 5.1 says that the config files are in /usr/src/linux. The closest thing I have is /usr/src/linux-2.0.32 Why don't I have a directory here simply called /linux? Can this be causing problems when I'm compiling.
There SHOULD be a soft link (see man ln )from /usr/src/linux to usr/src/linux-what_ever_your _version_is ie. linux -> /usr/src/linux-2.0.32 Sounds like you install didn't quite complete that for you. You have two options... 1) just go to usr/src/llinux-2.0.32 and work there... but you MAY have problems, so... 2) got to /usr/src and execute the following: ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.0.32 linux This will soft link linux to the existing source directory...
I'm getting an error message something like, "nothing to act upon" or "target...stopping." Sorry, I forgot to write it down. make dep & make clean are ok, but I can't seem to make zImage. <snip>
