[opensuse] Getting NTP address from DHCP?
Can OpenSUSE get the NTP server address via NTP? I don't see any option for enabling this and I also have a public server configured in the NTP settings. If possible, I'd prefer to use the DHCP provided server when available. I have looked at the DHCP offer, with Wireshark, and can see the NTP server address is included. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Do you use NetworkManager? Then: https://features.opensuse.org/310086 Besides, I found some settings in /etc/sysconfig/network/config: NETCONFIG_MODULES_ORDER="dns-resolver dns-bind dns-dnsmasq nis ntp- runtime" NETCONFIG_NTP_POLICY="auto" See "man netconfig" for an explanation of what "ntp-runtime" does. That may be suitable for fixed locations, but you can't rely on NTP server being delivered by all DHCP servers, so you may want to avoid this on laptops. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
