two things to try: * remove any existing (if any) file /etc/X11/xorg.conf (in fact, rename it, never really remove any config file :-) if this don't works (either there is no file or nothing better), * run init 1 sax2 -a init 5 as root. this should give you a config (and a xorg.conf file you can then edit) the problem is also often generated by a "vga=XXX" config in the boot menu try removing it from /boot/grub/menu.lst I cannot play videos and my
