Hello everyone, I tried several times to remaster a linux live distro ( Knoppix, Slax, ... ) Is there an easier way to generate your own distro ? I'd like to add some features like "mambo server", phpmyadmin, ... and boot on KDE Thanx for all ;) -- Laurent Renard

See the January issue of Linux Journal. The article on a Internet Cafe has what the author did to re-roll a knoppix bootable cd. HTH Mike

Actually it is the February issue that was delivered in January on page 42 "A Temporary Internet Lounge". You need to be a subscriber to LJ in order to view it on line.

I managed creating a LiveCD from a suse installation; it's quite easy to remaster, even to replace the kernel with your own. And it's way better than knoppix's cloop. I will post hopefully this week a link to a documentation and 2 isos (a development one, ready for remastering and a LiveCD one, with fwvm or kde beta1). The scripts for automagically creating the live will follow soon. Josephine

I'd be very interested in this, since I'd like to do a new version of our Welsh-language liveCD, Cymrux. -- Pob hwyl / Best wishes Kevin Donnelly www.kyfieithu.co.uk - Meddalwedd Rhydd yn Gymraeg www.cymrux.org.uk - Linux Cymraeg ar un CD!
I would be very interested in seeing this as well. I saw something similiar on Slax's web site. Are you going to post to the list when you have it? Thanks. George --- Kevin Donnelly <kevin@dotmon.com> wrote:

Of course i will post everything to the list. suse deserves it's own better "knoppix"-like cd :) I just wait for the domain to be registred and get a mirror someplace (the remastering iso has 380MB and the desktop cd cca. 600MB). If anyone has a mirror offer, now it's the time :) josephine
