xine/ogle - crashing when trying to play dvds
Dear all I'm trying to watch my DVDs on Suse 8.2/Xd2 on a Toshiba laptop with cdw.dvd combo drive. i have followed the advice from an email from the list earlier on and created a symbolik link to /dev/sr0 as /dev/dvd. Now the dvd mounts fine and i can read it in nautilus. at first xine didn't play with sound so (again from the list) i replaced the distribution copy with the latest rpm. i also installed ogle. here are the problems: now: xine doesn't even recognize the dvd, although you can open individual files from it and they play (but without sound) ogle: plays it without sound but crashed shortly afterwards. as far as i gather it's somehow linked to sound as well because in the terminal window the only message i get is "failed generating alsa pcm device default" audio cd's play just fine and the sound is ok. please help. cheers, j. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Try running xine from the command line with --verbose=9 and see if you get any interesting error messages
