Can FTP, HTTP, but cannot telnet into SUSE 8.0 server???
Hello, I am able to FTP and connect via http to my suse server but I cannot telnet. It just won't connect. What am I doing wrong? What could be set wrong??? Thanx in advance DB

1. Don't use telnet. Use ssh instead - it's more secure. However, if you must use telnet... 2. Check you have installed the telnet daemon package (telnetd?) 3. Check you have enabled inetd in YaST 4. Check you have enabled telnet in /etc/inetd.conf 5. Check you have allowed telnet connections through if you are running a firewall (e.g. SuSEfirewall) Still stuck? What you are trying to do is what you are doing wrong. Don't use telnet over the internet. Use ssh instead.
