Hi, I'm looking to buy m515, but before I do so I would like know it can do for me certain things. 1. Can I synch it (date book and other info) under linux? is there such program? 2. Can I defined certain nr of web pages which I can automatically download daily on my laptop (under linux) using one command and using another command transfer all this onto palm and automatically delete news from previous day? What program do I need? 3. Can I synch my mail to mutt or kmail? If so how? or am I doomed to M$ products? Thanks for any help, Wojtek

Yes, you can use jpilot (what I use with my Visor), Kpilot or if you want to use Evolution you can synch with that very well. -> 2. Can I synch my mail to mutt or kmail? If so how? -> or am I doomed to M$ products? Mutt ..I don't know if ever this will be possible. Kmail maybe ..I don't use it. I use Mutt. As I said above..Evolution does this. Aethera most likely will do this..but I doubt it does it now. I would look at the pilot specifics as far as KDE3 are concerned. I've heard it's been greatly improved. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- "I've never been quarantined. I have a Palm V (old, yeah, I know), and I use a program called sitescooper to download news to my computer, and a reader on the Palm called plucker. Sitescooper creates the files in plucker format, and I sync them to my Palm with jpilot. Works like a charm. Plucker is at www.plkr.org; I don't have the Web site for sitescooper handy, but a Google search ought to turn it up right away. One more question. I downloaded sitescooper and try to run it (Suse 7.2) an this is what I got: Reading configuration from "/home/wojtek/.sitescooper/sitescooper.cf". Not that I'm all that knowledgeable about this, but it looks to me as if you need to get the HTML::Parser module for Perl. I think I had to do this too, and there were instructions in the sitescooper docs about how to get it and install it. See if that helps. To answer your other question, I'm currently scooping two sites (my Palm V only has 2 MB of memory, so I don't have room for all that much material): the Washington Post (some site files I created are probably part of your sitescooper distribution) and the Clarion-Ledger, the latter being a newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi, where I'm originally from. I also used to live in Washington, DC, and I like to keep up with what's going on in both places. There are lots of sites that should be included in your sitescooper distribution. Browse through them and see if any of them are to your liking. If there's something specific you want to scoop on the Web (like my two sites), you can always try creating your own site files, and even contributing them once you're done -- you never know who else might enjoy having your site files available. Good luck, Tim Sunrise in Stockholm today: 5:18 Sunset in Stockholm today: 18:24 My rail transit photos at http://www.kynerd.nu

Thanks, that is indeed what was missing. Wojtek

Good, I'm glad you got it working. Happy scooping and reading! Regards, Tim Sunrise in Stockholm today: 5:15 Sunset in Stockholm today: 18:26 My rail transit photos at http://www.kynerd.nu
Does anyone have a pointer to a FAQ about getting the Palm M series working with Linux (or any Palm product ?). A step-by-step newbies guide would be good, for inclusion in the SuSE Unofficial FAQ....:-)

Hello http://www.handhelds.org might be a good starting point. --Jyry C:-( C:-/ C========8-O C8-/ C:-( Kansainvälisten kisojen tulosteksteissä käytetään kilpailijoiden nimiin äänestoainetta.
I am currently using a Handspring Visor which I sync on Linux via USB. I use jpilot standard setup out of the box. You might need to adjust the baud rate down.I previously had a Palm serial link until my Palm died a cruel death at the last Usenix convention :-) On 3 Apr 2002 at 10:17, jon@fl.net.au wrote:
