What kind of other hardware do you have?
The board is an Asus P3C-E (from memory) with Pentium III 667 MHz, 128 MB rambus memory. The video card is an ATI expert 98 AGP, SCSI Adaptec AHA-2940UW, 3Com 3C905B and the subject sound card. I see that in Windows XP the sound works fine. In Windows it is using IRQ 5. I see in SuSE the awe module is loaded fine and the sound even works briefly during the KDE startup when it makes the startup sound but usually the sound seems cut short and there is no sound after that. Any suggestions? Damon Register

Sounds like an irq conflict, probably with your printer. Check your bios and see if your lpt port is assigned irq5, also check your isapnp.conf for irq numbers. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
