I have to computers, - "hewpac" with Leap 15.2 installed and - "azure" with Leap 15.4, both working under KDE and connected to the router via WiFi. For a long time, both worked under the so-called Wicked connection. But yesterday in the morning, this type of connection failed. Consequently I had to select NetworkManager for having them connected. After an hour, the NetworkManager connection of "azure" (Leap 15.4) failed, and since then it cannot be re-established any more. When i click the "Networks" mini-icon in the panel, four routers in the neighborhood are listed under "Available connections", but mine is not. What can I do for making it find my router again? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Wolfgang

I have three Draytek here, they need regular restarts too - and they have cron built in so you can have them do it on their own. It is not easy when your access point does not show up in e.g. NetworkManager. Try this from the command line: "iwlist <interface> scan", it will show you the ESSIDs available. If you do see your access point, then I would start looking at dmesg output, for errors.
Wolfgang -- Hannover (25.5°C) Temperatures in Zürich seem to me rather low, impact of the large lake?
We have had 30-31C for the last few weeks, even 35-36C two weeks ago, but I am in a smaller town outside Zurich at 600meters altitude, we're almost always 2deg lower than at the lake. Last night, temperatures even dropped below 20. Think of the 1'000'000+ people expected to take part in the Street Parade today, in the center of Zurich, at 30+ ..... - Per Jessen, Zürich (22.8°C)

I'll double that. Just installed an AX55. Hardware is fine, config web interface is highly limited, missing features, standard features like Qos, parental control, etc.. are stuck behind a rent-a-software pay-for feature -- which if you buy the antivirus/malware protection they send ALL your web-traffic to a 3rd party site (there was a firmware update -- because they were sending requests to the 3rd party site -- even if you didn't activate that feature) Never buy TP-Link again.... -- David C. Hi Wolfgang

I didn't know one had to reboot routers. I have a d-link router and I have hardly ever rebooted it, except maybe to allow my Sennheiser wifi headset to get its frequencies before something else hogs them. However, beacause of Plasma (OR Leap, I have no idea) I often have NetworkManager issues as well and two of my three USB wifi transceivers are still unpredictable and similar no-shows (in order of usability: TpLink RtL8188eus, Linksys AE6000, DualBand RtL88x2bu). Another symptom is that on lost connection there is no auto-reconnect, it helps if I manually disconnect and thenm reconnect but not every time.

Hi Wolfgang

I didn't know one had to reboot routers.
I have a router provided by my ISP that now and then totally hangs, and has to be rebooted. In fact, I bought a gadget (Energenie) to remotely power cycle the router, with a watchdog in software controlling it. Unfortunately the gadget died. I also have an AP (Asus) that can work for months then one day devices connecting to it fail (the phone reverts to G4), till I powercycle the AP. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. What makes you think that using different front-end to configure exactly the same kernel components would make a difference? You did not say whether connection failed on both systems or one only.
After an hour, the NetworkManager connection of "azure" (Leap 15.4) failed, and since then it cannot be re-established any more.

If client sees other AP, it is very unlikely to be a client issue.
What can I do for making it find my router again?
The only thing you can do from client side is to reload drivers (to reinitialize network adapter) or better power off/power on. If this does not help, you need to look at your AP.

Thank you in advance for your help.
Yesterday night the connection of my computer "azure" began to work. This happened spontaneously without my intervention. Afterwards I switched off my computers and went to bed. This morning both connected to the router immediately after having been switched on. There remains one strange thing. Whereas on my other computer (the one called "hewpac", which had always connected without groans), the name of the router appears on the top of the list displayed at clicking the "Networks" mini-icon in the panel, on "azure" there is displayed "wlan1" instead. Anyway it is important that it works, and I want to thank all of you that gave me advises and tips or put me questions, which I do not answer any more, of course. Have a good Sunday, Wolfgang
