[opensuse] Re: K3b - copying CD to MP3 problem

I recall a while ago, that something had to be done, to get K3b to make MP3 files from a CD. I have installed lame, but when I try to make the MP3s, I get an error about the lame command, but no information as to what the error is, just a list of the command variables.
Any ideas
tnx do you have packman in your repositories? if so, search yast for mp3 and install all what is relevant.
then k3b should work but konqueror works as well (a bit slow) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I have packman configured and have installed what I assume is relevant. However, it still doesn't work and the error message and debug output give no clue at all as to the problem. I can't even read the entire "command line failed" message, to try from the command line. K3b for PP3 has worked in the past. I'd sure like to get it going now. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I recently used K3B to rip CDs to MP3 on an OpenSuSE 11.0 (haven't tried yet on 11.1) -- works like a charm. I usually follow those steps to get all the multimedia apps working:
- install the basic support for restricted codecs using the one-click install method offered here: <http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats> - then use Yast | Software management and upgrade all "system" and "multimedia" packages where a Packman version is offered (the alternate version will be shown in blue) -- right-click the package and select "upgrade". One of the packages you *should* upgrade to the Packman version is K3B itself. - install a few extra multimedia SW componenents that are not installed by default, like lame, XMMS, VLC, etc. (this is mostly a matter of personal choice).
