To many bugs in Suse10, Printer problems

First I can't get wireless Intel ipw2100 to work, now I can't get a Epson925 Stylus Photo to print clearly,it just prints trash on paper. This is on two different computers with Suse10 installed, cups+gimp print. I can install printer on a Fedora4 computer and setup and print perfectly. Suse10 is not ready for prime time. Jim

So Jim, how are we suppose to take this email? Is it a cry for help or are you just wanting to vent & complain? Usually if you ask a question here or on the regular SuSE mail list, someone will try to answer or help. Up to you, your choice. end of line Lee -- --- KMail v1.8.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v10.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.

I'll take the part that say's the printer isn't printing properly, just a whole lot of trash on a piece of paper. No fonts are printed. Jim

Ok, have you been thru YaST2 to set the printer up properly? Are you sure this is a supported printer? Usually the Epson printers are well supported and just work, but there is always the outside chance it isn't. You can also check the Epson Ekowa site for additional drivers. I have forgotten the printer site to check for Linux compatible units, but quite likely if RH supports, SuSE will also. USB connection or parallel port connection? There was some information SuSE posted after 10 installed about parallel port printers. Did you reset the printer? Reset computer & printer, as in shut both down and reboot? Almost sounds as if some garbage got into the printer. end of line

Thanks that did it I keep forgetting Yast does it all, except setup a Intel ipw2100 wireless card. Jim

Great! Simple as that, huh? ;o) Do you have to use the ndiswrapper for this card? I know I've missed some of the conversation on this problem, because you have been discussing it with others, haven't you? Seems like I have heard others complain about the Intel wireless. Sorry I can't be much help here, as I haven't played much with wireless yet. Lee

Suse has the drivers for the Intel ipw2100 , and the card is being reconized but it can't connect to the AP, there something in Suse that's causing the problem. Thanks for your help. Jim

Did you try using NetGO? http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Network/netgo works quite well for setting up nics. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998

SUSE 10.0 arrived yesterday and I did the upgrade. The only glitch I had was that I had to get the nVidia driver from nVidia twice and after a second reboot and setup with sax2, all was well. I have an Epson Stylus Photo 2200 bulk ink fed with MIS ink and have NO problems. Is your printer using parallel or USB? I understand that there are some problems with some printers and parallel. Usb, I got it working by setting it up in Yast, the do all app. Jim
