I have a HP 610CL and it always worked good with linux, except I never
printed any pictures until here recently so I never really looked into cups.
I did try to install it when I upgraded to kde 2.1.2 and had a bunch of
dependencies so I thought oh well, it's working so I guess i don't need
cups.

What printer do you have? Have you tried CUPS?

Hello, has anyone ever had a problem printing in color? Nothing on my SuSE 7.1 will print in color. I have checked the printer settings and everything and tried everything I know and still just black and white.

Hi David: I have the exactly same printer. It prints colors just fine. You need to go back into yast and configure it. You want to choose one of the color printing options and a resolution of 600x300 for good color prints (See pg. 14 of your HP manual; the skinny one). SuSE also has a photo quality mode but I think it only works with photos and not text. It does a great job printing photos! The help dialog in YAST2 explains it. At any rate, 600x300 and one of the color selections will work. You have to select the "manual" setup in YAST2 and not the "quick" configuration. Cheers, Jonathan
So it's maybe better to give it a try with cups......I'm sure that your HP is is supported. Bart David M. wrote:
