Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] suse 5.1/ppp
There should be a README or INSTALL file in there. The instructions to compile it are in there. <<Tony>>

I downloaded PPPWizard as well, but I don't know what to do with the files. Many of the are in the for *.cc Does that mean they have to be compiled? How do I do it?

I'm quite a newbie on Linux and i've got a problem. I can't manage to execute a script directly from CDs. I tried to comment the line about cdrom in fstab but i still can't have the permission. Is there a special option i forgot while mounting my cdrom ? Cheers Régis -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I worked hard since i succeed in configuring my ISP connection and i agree with you, Ezppp is a very nice program. I wish S.u.S.E 5.1 provided it, it would be much easier to get ppp running Take a look at the Ezppp-howto, there's some very useful tips, especiallly if your ISP uses PAP identification. I'm also an ezppp user, but I've been finding that I occasionally lose write and/or execute permissions after using ezppp's "configuration" utility to change modem init strings and the like. The files whose w/x permissions are affected are pppd and resolv.conf, rendering ezppp useless until permissions are restored. Anybody have a similar problem? It's a small annoyance, but nonetheless . . . Glenn Sullivan -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Hi, I think what happens is everytime you run YAST, it checks all the file permissions and changes them back to the secure setting. There is a way of telling Suseconfig what files not to change, by editing your /etc/permissions files. Hey, a bit of good news for all you EZPPP users, is that the author is working on a new version which will work from the command line also. Right now EZPPP is limited to X. It's on the authors web page. zentara -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
Hi, I finally got ppp going by using ezppp. Not a bad program. Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated. If you ever need someone to fix a auto production line let me know! (There are some things that I can fix on my own!) Denis zentara wrote:

X-ISP works wonderfully well, and my ISP uses PAP also. I'd recommend this xforms app as the best ppp app for dialup.
