[opensuse] opensuse 13.2 and booting grub2
I have some older systems that I am trying to install opensuse 13.2 on. The installation seems to go okay until it reaches the initial reboot. Then I get a Grub error "no such device" and then a number which I assume is the UUID of the device that it cannot find. I don't know if has been discussed here already but I have googled and not come up with anything really useful or is beyond my ability to comprehend. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to resolve it. I seem only to have the grub rescue or the rescue system to work with. Would be grateful for any simple step by step assistance. You could have run into a similar issue to the one I had. I posted about it here but for some reason no search engine is throwing up the usual mailing list link. Here's a copy on some random site: https://www.marshut.net/kpyurq/extraneous-apostrophe-in-grub-config.html Have you checked your grub line to see if it's not been contaminated by some unneeded characters? That is interesting. I don't know if that is the problem that I had. My workaround was to install 13.1 and then upgrade to 13.2. It seems to work fine doing it that way on one system. The second is in the process of being upgraded so I'll find out in the morning whether it has worked for that system too.
