Hi Dead_Rose, I am afraid you are right. The non-appearance of the GUI is the hint that dumbf* NVidia is once more giving troubles. Back to k_athlon-2.4.19-66.i586.rpm from CD #1 :-( !!! Cheers ... Wolfi ============================================= mailto:wolfi_z@gmx.net

Why not just get the tar.gz file from the nVidia website and relink it? It will make a newly linked driver for your new kernel. That's why I would do. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I tell you what you should see.

Not true. Manually run the mk_initrd after in the kernel installs. My original Nvidia works just fine with the .19 series after the default install, the 145 version and now the 185 version of the k_athlon kernel. The only caveat is having to manually run mkinitrd each time I install the new kernel or it does exactly as was described originally. ----- Doug

I also ran mk_initrd from the command line myself (after installing the new kernel), because I did not trust the whole thing:-) -maybe I should have mentioned that right from the beginning- BUT that did not help :-(( Anyway, back to the old kernel, and the machine works ...
