[opensuse] [Fwd: Messages from opensuse@opensuse.org to you have been bouncing]
Hi, I get two or three of these messages a month. Should I be concerned? How about the bounced messages? Do they get resent, or should I figure out how to look into the archives to see them? And how are the messages identified, that is, how do I use the number to find them? John, Dunno - I've never see one before. But if your list was a zip code, that would put the bounce coming from just outside Fayetteville, TX "78940". You know "that shack outside LaGrange." ZZ-top and Marvin Zindler made the place famous as well as that little whorehouse the Aggies used to frequent... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Yes and no. It means that you mail provider rejected email number 78940, but later accepted.
How about the bounced messages? Do they get resent, or should I figure out how to look into the archives to see them? And how are the messages identified, that is, how do I use the number to find them?
78940
I just got help with: mailto:opensuse+help@opensuse.org where is listed how to retreive particular message. I requested 78940, and it came just as any other message and I had to search entire opensuse@opensuse.org to find it. The number is the same as in: Return-Path: <opensuse+bounces-78940-... which you can see with Ctrl-u (Thunderbird). This is the message: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2009-01/msg00924.html So, if you already have it, than it was sent again. If not then you can request it using: mailto:opensuse+get-78940@opensuse.org -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you don't know why, it's worth looking into. I get the occasional report like that too, but I know why - my news-server will bounce any message that is too old, which usually means a wrong date setting. You should be able to track the message by messageid and find it in your mailserver logs. If you're using an external mail-provider, it'll probably be difficult. /Per -- /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Thanks, Rajko and Per, Rajko M. wrote:

Well. You show me, and I see it. When I clicked View -> Headers -> All I couldn't find it. It didn't occur to me to look at the message source (after all, it's just text, right? :-). Thanks. Per Jessen wrote:

The message (forwarded to me by Rajko) was not unreasonably out of date, so I guess the problem is still a mystery.

Yes, my ISP is my mailserver. I'll try forwarding one of these bounced messages to Tech Support next time (yeah, right :-). jp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I'm not sure, but I think I've sometimes seen a copy of the actual bounce included in the report you got from the list manager. -- /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
