YaST software update not working after update
Suddenly my YaST software is not working. When trying to activate YaST -> Software -> Online Update nothing happens. Right-clicking on SuSE Watcher in the panel result in an error message that "The command 'yast2' 'online_update' not found". What did I do? Nothing special, except from running software update around a week ago. As far as I remember that update included an upadte of some YaST components. Suggestion? Janus -- Roskilde University, Denmark. Is this SUSE Linux 9.1? There was a broken liby2util package released for 9.1 (which we retracted). Please reinstall the "liby2util" RPM from the original CDs. Ciao, Marcus

I'm at a loss to figure out how to install just this one package from the DVD using YAST on the DVD. Am I missing something simple or going about this the wrong way?

OK, I'm better now, I plead 1am-itis... New issue though, I now have 2.9.22-0 reinstalled from the DVD and several US mirrors are offering me 2.9.25-0.2. I'm gun shy at just letting it be installed now, what is a good version of "liby2util" or which version was recalled?

Mount the DVD. `cd /media/dvd/suse/i586` (or `cd /media/dvd/suse/x86_64` if you're using a 64-bit RPM) `rpm --force -U liby2util-<version>.rpm` That will force an "update" of the currently-installed version -- basically, reinstalling it.

Done. Should I be happy with liby2util-2.9.25-0.2 I have now? Janus -- Roskilde University, Denmark. Department of Technology and Social Science. International Development Studies. ESST - Society, Science and Technology in Europe.

Marcus, what is the current, good version of liby2util? Is 2.9.25-0.3 (2.9.27-0.2.3) OK and is it the correction to the recalled version?
