[opensuse] OT: AOC monitor input selection
I have an AOC I2770PQ monitor and have got myself into a Catch 22 situation. The monitor has an input selection feature, chosen from the OSD menu, and I have mistakenly set it to DVI. The computers I have available can only provide either HDMI or D-SUB (VGA) outputs, so I need to change the input selector on the monitor menu. Unfortunately the monitor also has power-saving features and in particular if it detects no input on the chosen input, it goes into power-saving mode. In power-saving mode the OSD menu cannot be activated AFAICT. Apart from joining me in swearing at AOC's product designers, does anybody happen to have any potentially productive suggestions? Cheers, Dave PS Their office appears to be closed for the weekend. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Page 28 of the manual under "Extra" shows the switch for input select. The manual indicates that in setup mode the power saver isn't on. So much for RTFM. Your monitor may be different from the book. ======= Good luck ========== -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

1.Remove power from the display then try again? 2.Electrically, the only difference between DVI and HDMI that I'm aware of is that DVI lacks audio connectivity. So, Any DVI to HDMI adapter or cable should be doable in either direction as long as audio on the video path is not a requirement. 3.Sometimes LCDs have a button which will switch inputs, without any obvious evidence of such capability or tickling the OSD. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I have an HP monitor with a DVI port and a VGA port. I have 2 separate running machines connected to it, one on each port. Both ports are live. To switch from the default power-on DVI port to the alternate VGA port I use the '+' hardware button on the LCD (without the OSD/OCD menu activated). Might that work on yours? Thanks for all the replies everybody. Ralph's suggestion gave me a clue. Pressing the '+' button didn't do anything but pressing the 'Auto' button brought up an input selection menu, even in power-save mode. Thanks very much. Part of my difficulty is that I don't know where I've put the manual and I can't make the download work from AOC's site. Still, finding it is now a problem for another day :) Cheers, Dave

Dave, I wasn't trying to be abrupt with my reply about the manual as I assumed you had it. I got a copy by googling your model number, don't remember what url it came from. I was trying to convey that monitors usually have a setup menu item that does what you needed. I'll try to do better next time. Idea: as he has lost the manual and could not download it, you could email your copy to him, if that's ok with you both ;-) I keep a directory with manuals of devices, when I get them. Easier to find than the paper ones. Some sites apparently want money for them. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. Hi Fred, No offence taken and please accept my apologies - I wasn't intending to criticise your answer in any way. I was just fishing for a URL to download it, but an email copy as Carlos suggests would be equally welcome.
