[opensuse] New 3 Column Web Template Available - Validated HTML 4.01, CSS
Listmates, I am in the process of redesigning my website and I have developed a 3-column template based upon proper html and css so that the template is validated under HTML 4.01 and CSS from w3schools. I haven't finished moving my content over, but I thought I would make the template available to anyone who wants it or who may be interested in a short example of how css, html and php fit together to make things work. It was frustrating looking around the web for a good template. Most people want to sell you a template. That's not right. So hopefully this will help anyone who is looking for something similar as well. Thanks here goes to the guys at maxdesign.com that provided the free tutorial that provided the base css for the layout. I did the graphics, modified and added to the css and menus and split the site into separate logical components. Before I added site specific stuff to the template, I set up a separate template directory showing an example of the site layout and providing a gzipped version for download. I have included my hddtemp page as an example page for the site that is reached through the second menu entry. It shows the basic css format used in the site. The site layout is broken up in 4 primary parts: header.php | menu.php | index.php | footer.php To put the site to use, simply make copies of index.php and change the content and add a new link in menu.php. The separate menu.php also allows you to create multiple menus for different areas of your site. I am currently working on a DHTML/CSS expandable menu, but that is for the future. The example layout is: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/webdev/3ColTemplate/index.php The qzipped version of the template is accessible through the index, or for the impatient (32k - including the counter and footer images): http://www.3111skyline.com/download/webdev/3ColTemplate/3ColTemplate.tar.gz Let me know what you think. -- David C. It's matter of taste I suppose, but I would have gone for XHTML. In fact, I have aimed for XHTML for the last 4 years at least. (aimed = far from all of my pages score a 100% on the validation).
The example layout is:

Hmm, the W3 validator reported 5 errors and 1 warning? Sorry, had to be a little pedantic, David :-) /Per -- /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
