Time to say Goodbye...
Hi there, well, I have been participating in this list as a SuSE employee for almost four years now. Within this time, I was involved in the creation of 13 releases of SuSE Linux and I had a blast. Now it's time to move on - I will be leaving SuSE at the end of March to start working for another cool Open Source company - MySQL AB in Sweden. Since I will be busy relocating to Hamburg (Germany) and taking care of a lot of administrative stuff in the next weeks, I will unsubscribe from this list soon. But as soon as my life is back in order, I will be back - promised! In the future, you can reach me at lenz@grimmer.com. I would like to thank you all for being a great community - this list is really unique regarding the atmosphere and friendlyness as well as the high level of knowledge and expertise about SuSE Linux and Linux in general. Try to keep it this way! I look forward to being back to this list soon. SuSE's loosing a good one. I/We thank you very much for your support on this list and really hope you will return. Good luck in your new job. Thanks Mark
Hi. Although in SuSE 7.2 I can handle the Euro symbol in text consoles and X, I've tested printing with a file built in binary containing characters 0xA4's (the Euro symbol in ISO 8859-15) and 0x80's (the Euro for Microsoft). Surprisingly, 0x80's showed the Euro symbol, but not the 0xA4's (it showed something like an 'o' with four little marks). Looking in sdb.suse.com, I only found to include a file '/etc/apsfilterrc.y2prn_lp.upp' with contents: ENCODING="ISO-8859-15" (I configured the printer with CUPS, which correctly found it). The printer is an Epson Stylus Color 400 (I suppose a Windows printer). Any idea? BTW, someone figures why Microsoft chose 0x80 for the Euro? TIA.

Lenz, Thanks for all you gave and did , to this list. I remember when, about 2 years ago, when someone pissed you off ,bad. And you treatened to quit. Boy, was I glad that you listened to our pleadings and stay on. You almost, single-handedly have succeeded in making this mailing-list, the most comprehensive and friendly Linux forum to belong to. Thank You Your patience and well respected succinct reponses have come to be the standard expected of a fast moving , cutting-edge, leading Distro. And lastly, an almighty thanks from me for making SuSE listen to all here, when YAST almost got dumped-out for YAST2. I wish you good fortune and happy hacking.
