Is there any SuSE8.0 user out there who has devfs enabled succesfully on a PC and would be so kind to send me copies of the files devfsd.conf, modules.devfs and modules.conf? Preferably for a system with the drivers for NVIDIA enabled? My problem is that I can't get devfs installed without having the screen littered with error messages like "module /dev/blog not found" while booting. Furthermore, the system is noticeably slower with devfs installed. I need devfs to enable digital video output to the firewire using module dv1394. Programs like kino and dvconnect give bad results. I succesfully experimented with devfs on distributions of RedHat, Mandrake and Caldera, but as far as SuSE8.0 is concerned things are a mess. I read through all FAQs as well as the complete documentation of devfs and visited hundreds of internet pages, tried playing with the entries in devfsd.conf and modules.conf. All without success.
