That's 20 lines a day, for me and I actively use gnome. Not bad in my opinion. Compare this to running db2 which logs all the time :)

This sequence occurs at irregular intervals.
Questions:
1. What problems would be introduced if this were disabled? I use KDE, not Gnome. It always seems to turn itself off anyway.
Any program depending on it wouldn't work.
2. Is it associated with running some particular application that uses Gnome libs?
Any gnome application that's uses gconf for setting etc, if they use libgconf then they use it.
3. How can it be disabled?
Don't run any of those applications. example of apps that uses it is epiphany, galeon, evolution, gedit, gnomeicu, gnome-terminal, nautilus, rhytmbox, etc. Check for them with ldd /opt/gnome/bin/appname |grep gconf Regards, Erik

OK, I guess its not *too* bad, but I do get more: 875 in 12 days (~73 per day). That's 875 out of 13186 lines or about one in 15. -- Robert C. Paulsen, Jr. robert@paulsenonline.net
