Greets, Running SuSE 6.3 and having some issues with wvdial. I have users setup through Yast and they are enabled to use the modem. I can use wvdial with a user.. sign off come back later and try wvdial and get a permission error. Then have to login as root type chmod a+rwx /dev/ttyS1 then the user can use wvdial again.. this happens about 60% of the time. It seems to be almost random.. it is not always that when I reboot I need to change the mode.. and it is not always that after one successful use I have to change the mode. Basically to start if anyone has heard of this issue.. would like some help.. if not - which config file would change the permission attributes of the /dev/tty* files? Why don't you just set it up as 'On-Demand'. there's a script called 'wvdial.dod' lurking about on SuSE's site. Basically it works by using pppd and wvdial. Thst's what i use and although i had some problems with ths Timeout (Make sure it does timeout or you'll be staring at a huge phone-bill) i've got it working satisfactorily. P.S> The file will require some editing for it to work as there are line-breaks where there shouldnt be any. But hey, Linus is an adventure. :-) Clifford ...Well, I know we're dying and there's no sign of a parachute... Tori Amos On Sat, 27 May 2000 Craen@aol.com wrote:
