Hi list, I already have installed both Kaffeine and MPlayer but I can't watch .wmv files. The MPlayer FAQ says something like "install the latest plugins" so I did... the last ones installed under /usr/lib/win32 belong to the "essential-20040427 collection"... but as I said, it's not possible to play .wmv files at all... Any suggestions? TIA, Martin

Did you have the relevant codecs installed when building ? Did configure detect them for you ? Thge mplayer webpage lists (or at least used to list last time I checked) a reasonably complete (albeit rather technical) document explaining how to get the various codecs working for you. I have MPlayer installed (via apt) from http://packman.links2linux.org/ and can play .wmv files with no problem (see the bottom of packman's page for additional essential files). David

Hmmm... interesting... I dropped the idea of installing MPlayer via apt-get because "my" apt-get didn't resolve dependencies as expected... thefore I decided to install from tarball, as usual... Martin

There's an "MPlayer-suite" package available via apt that will download the necessary dependencies automatically. Do you have packman / packman-i686 in your /etc/apt/sources.list? David
