[opensuse] Stuck Printer Queue
Hi, I sometimes get a printer queue that is stuck. This seems to occur when I have to turn off the printer and back on because it has run out of paper or ink. I tmight be the printer that locks up first but it also seems to lock up the print queue. The fix that I use is to either reboot the CUPS print server or using YAST remove the printer then reinstall it. Is there an easier way to restart/reset the print queue? Thanks, -- Bruce Samhaber Senior Hardware Design Consultant Tel: 613-724-5987 112 Kenora St. Fax: 613-724-5987 Ottawa, Ontario Cel: 613-297-6961 K1Y 3L1 mailto: bsamhaber@sympatico.ca http://www3.sympatico.ca/marypat/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had this a few days ago, and got effective advice on this forum. Use your browser to go to <http://localhost:631/>. Look for the item "Manage Printers". See a green-labeled item telling you that you can Start the printer. That will clear your queue. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In KDE I go to kinfocenter ->peripherals->printers and the printer queues are all shown there. If a queue is stopped due to some printer problem, I restart it with a mouse click. This hasn't happened very often, though. Joe -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

My approach is to use the enable command. To wit: % /usr/bin/enable Laser1320 You have to use the full path name, since "enable" is a BASH built-in. Randall Schulz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Oh, and you have to be root. Randall Schulz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Or go to the CUPS webinterface and set your queue to "abort-job" rather than "stop-printer". Jan -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
