Well the itme is finally come to put a few other machines online. At the moment I use a direct ppp-oe connection and I would like to start making use of a linksys router Is there any trouble with conutinuing to use the SuSEfirewall2 ? Will I still use PPP or will the new connection be eth0? If I'm now using dhcp and the router does too is there anything that will need changing? -- Collector of vintage computers http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600 Machines to trade http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600/trade.html Open Source Weekend http://www.osw.ca

I have been using a Linksys router for over four years with very few problems (I just updated to a wireless router). Use DHCP on the Linksys, it works very well. The Linksys can do PPPOE (that's what my ISP uses). By using the Linksys you can stop using SuSEfirewall with some level of security. Some paranoid users may state otherwise. Just make sure you keep any PC's up to date with patches. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989 SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please*

Not that I've experienced. (Running 9.1)

eth0

Use dhcp and have the router assign your subnet addresses. And read the manual on the disk, it will help a lot.
