US Robotics Sportster 56K-PCI and SuSE Linux
Since I'm updating my computer to a motherboard without an ISA slot I need to know if the US Robotics Sportster 56K - PCI modem will work with SuSE 7.2 Linux. I've been told that the one I'm planning on getting is NOT a winmodem. I've searched various databases without a difinite answer. Can anyone advise me on the mentioned modem. Terry Eck

Yes, I am using that modem with 7.2 and it works great. That modem insists on being on com5, so you might have to put a set serial statement in your boot.local. I know I have had to do that in the past. I just looked in my 7.2 boot.local and I don't have a set serial there, so maybe 7.2 sets it up automatically. Either way, I have used that modem for a few years now with a variety of Linux versions without any problems. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 7.2 Professional KDE 2.1.2 KMail 1.2 Bryan S.
