[opensuse] Install Budgie from Minimal Install
Hello, I haven't installed a GUI from a minimal install in a while and for the life of me I can't remember what step(s) I'm missing here. Maybe it's better just to install gnome and grab budgie as well afterwards. Xinit, GDM, and dudgie-desktop are all installed, but when I run budgie-desktop it cannot connect to the init server. I can run startx as root and get a gnome shell. I get a permission denied without root, "xf860OpenConsole: Cannot open virtual console 3 (permission denied)" Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Bryon -- Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. You would need the minimal X install, which I never remember the name, and has some problems that were recently commented.

Did you try "init 3"?

You have to edit permissions as commented in /etc/permissions.local, then run "chkstat --system --set" to apply. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" (Minas Tirith))
