Didnt send the first time, think I may have a prob with my mailer :/ Robert K Davies On 18 Mar 2001 00:08:53 -0500, phantasm wrote:
Here is an interesting problem, I seen it once before on a minimal 6.4 install I did, and a friend of mine is getting the same error with 7.1 install Default w/ Office while running SSH as well.
When trying to telnet into the computer ya get
telneted: getnameinfo. connection to host lost
What could the problem be, I have searched the SDB, List Archive and Google and yet to find anything.
Thanks, Robert Kris Davies

Maybe you only need to search in YOU ? For the telnetd problem on 7.1, you should install the nkitserv update or configure reverse lookups of all your hosts correct. I don't know how you can get this error message with ssh, you can only get it if there is no ssh daemon running. So start the ssh daemon.
