I just signed up the group so I am not sure if my last email message made it. Last night I downloaded the personnel version of Suse 9.1 from ther esite and I insalled it ok. But now I can not found or startup the ftp server. I need this for my clients. Does the ftp server come with This version of suse? I could not find it in the services name so what name is under if it exist? How do I start up the ftp server? Thank you Phillip Taylor

Are you sure you installed the Personal version. That is a CD. It sounds like you installed the ftp version

I doubt it. Just download it from the ftp.suse.com. Look for vsftp. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Registered Linux user 231871

The personal ISO is >very< stripped down. I can't say 100%, but it probably doesn't have it. Try the following: In Yast, add a new install source as ftp, server: ftp.gwdg.de, directory: pub/suse/i386/9.1/ - then move this source to the "top" of the install list. See if going into Install/Remove software lists what you want... Steve

The "Personal" version does not include servers. Download, buy or borrow the "Professional version. Failing that, download the packages you need for the ftp server.
