I need help with a boot problem concerning lilo I statrtd with a harddisk that would boot windows and a different hard disk that would boot linux. I decided to get a little too brave and tried to make lilo handle both of them. I added dos to the existing lilo.conf with yast. then i executed /sbin/lilo. On rebooting lilo gave some hex error code. In frustration I did fdisk /MBR on the hard disk that contains the linux system and then tried modifying lilo.conf again. now when lilo should hopefully work when I boot on the linux disk I get a screen of repeating 010101010101.....
I can bring linux up by booting from the CD's and to make this long story short----how can I fix this short of reinstalling my linux system completely?
Firstly you should not have to re-install Linux - so wait a moment! You have not given enough information here. Explain a bit more about how you were booting from the 2 different disks, name names ! Cliff
