good day all ...
i'm still making progess. it appears that routing gets confused when i try and run ppp. this box has both an internal modem and and internal ethernet interface. the ethernet interface configured nicely with yast, but i cannot seem to get the ethernet interface to unconfigure itself when i need to use ppp instead.
what should /etc/rc.config and /etc/rc.d/network look like for a box with both modem/ppp interface and ethernet interface?
One thing you may want to confirm concerns your /etc/resolv.conf. It does tell you not to edit that file manually as it is generated by suseconfig. But there is a couple of entries that you may want to look at in /etc/rc.config. Look for "NAMESERVER" and be sure that your dialup nameserver's DNS address is there. Also look at the entry for "SEARCHLIST" and make sure your dialup nameserver's human name is entered there. If you make any changes in this file, you've got to run SuSeconfig for the changes to take effect. Suseconfig will then update your /etc/resolv.conf file for you:-) -- cya l8r Leon McClatchey leonmcclatchey@homemail.com Party on Linux:-) --------------6169F55231E3E4ACAE9B145B Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Michael Galloway wrote:
good day all ... i'm still making progess. it appears that routing gets confused when i try and run ppp. this box has both an internal modem and and internal ethernet interface. the ethernet interface configured nicely with yast, but i cannot seem to get the ethernet interface to unconfigure itself when i need to use ppp instead. what should /etc/rc.config and /etc/rc.d/network look like for a box with both modem/ppp interface and ethernet interface?
One thing you may want to confirm concerns your /etc/resolv.conf.
