Remote desktop connection and keyboard problems
Hey all, Running SUSE 9.0 Pro here on a IBM Thinkpad X31 laptop with overall great success. One issue that I can't seem to overcome is with remote desktop connection software. There are two programs I use, one called "Remote Desktop Connection" off the System/Remote Access menu. The other I just start from the "Run Program" launcher simply called "rdesktop". rdesktop works perfectly. No complaints other then it is missing a few features that Remote Desktop Connection has., like full screen and other tweaky settings. Remote Desktop Connection will connect to a server via rdp, but when connected and presented with the login dialog, when I type in my username, nothing shows up in the field. Seems I can't type in there at all. If I use the "Special Keys" feature I can type that way. Seems like there's something screwy with my keyboard layout or a setting like that in the program. Any suggestions on what to look for or change? I remotely access all my Windows servers all the time! Thanks. -m

I noticed that too and it seems to be a bug in the KDE app. A workaround that worked for me: move the mouse on one of the buttons on top of the screen (e.g. "Fullscreen") and leave it there, until the tool tip becomes visible. The screen will get garbled, but now you will be able to enter text - after the login the desktop will be restored. Seems to be a bug ...
