Hi. I'm running SuSE 8.2, and I'm trying to setup the subject, but so far no luck. Some has already reflected to my query, but I coudn't get it to work. First I did try to have the printer on USB, but as that didn't work, I tried to connect it to the parallel port, but unfortunately i wasn't lucky with that too. Has anybody got it to work ?. Maybe I have got a wrong ptinter for linux ?. What say ?. -- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards. Erik Jakobsen - eja@urbakken.dk. Licensed radioamateur with the callsign OZ4KK. SuSE Linux 8.2 Proff. Isn't this printer a GDI printer ? I think Suse does not support GDI printers. When I got my printer I took an LaserJet 1200 PS. Works fine with no problems. stefan

From description looks like you need a driver for this printer. "Does not understand any standard language. Works with the "foo2zjs" and "pbmtozjs" drivers. The "foo2zjs" driver is derived from the "pbmtozjs" driver and supports more paper sizes and options. PCL is only implemented in the Windows driver, to support DOS applications in the DOS box of Windows. The printer is faster than the LaserJet 1000 and has both USB and parallel connection. As the LaserJet 1000, it has only 1 MB of RAM and 32 kB of ROM." Good luck Stefan PS: if you can change the printer with a HP LJ 1200 model. They are kind of cheap.

Alfredo had the same problem the other day with a HP1000 and he had to use CUPS with web based administration. I use the same thing for a hp 1100 and hp 6L. Might give you an option to try over the weekend before you bring it back. He used this information. http://home.mn.rr.com/richardsons/foo2zjs/ Said it did the trick for him. Site says hp1005 will print in b/w with limited options. My apologize for not adding this information earlier. will
