Dear Carlos . . . thank you - i did not think that the probs of " /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device" might be connected with the New Kernel . . . Do you suspect that the New Kernel might be something to do with the probs ?? thanks best wishes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Quite likely - when exactly do you get the message that "/dev/sda1 is not a valid block device" ? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You've posted quite a lot of information, but haven't actually shown us how and where this error message occurs! Please post the command and its output. Please use a verbose option -v if available, and please post any output from the system log that seems relevant -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, that would be better. ellanios, what happens if you do a simply "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt" ? If that fails, please post outout from "ls -l /dev/sda*" and "ls -l /dev/disk/by-id". It is probably also worth looking in the "dmesg" output to see if you can spot anything unusual. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.2°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
