[opensuse] thunderbird 3 - Great threaded message summary
Guys, For those that haven't tried it yet, thunderbird 3.x has the great new capability to show a concise summary of an entire thread by clicking on the collapsed thread. When you click on a collapsed thread, you are shown the contributions of each person beginning with the original author and each respondent WITHOUT the reply text. (basically tbird automatically removes all the quoted text:
quoted parts of messages
so you are left with a one-page summary of the entire thread, like this: Original Author The original post.... Repy Author 1 Name Only reply text ... Repy Author 2 Name Only reply text ... Repy Author 3 Name Only reply text ... Example: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/ss/moz/tbird3-threadsum.jpg -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Have you ever tried mutt? It can sort and thread your messages in any way you like, and handles many 10.000 of mails flawlessly, reliable and fast. http://s2.directupload.net/file/d/2005/yc6am35g_png.htm -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No (embarrassingly enough), a decade in Linux and I've never gotten around to mutt. I think I have used everything but mutt. Just of the top of my head I can recall mailx, pine, alpine, tbird, kmail, claws, sylpheed claws, pegasus, opera, (netscape when it was all in one),.. and I know there were a couple of others -- but not mutt. I have it installed, so I guess it's time I took a look at it ;-) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. And if it would handle IMAP servers in a sane way it would IMHO be the best MUA there is. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I'm using mutt at home and wanderlust/emacs for IMAP when I'm "on the road", leaving all mail at the providers harddisk, fetching it when I'm home again. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I use fetchmail and use mutt via ssh/screen to read mail remotely. I also carry a small flash-drive with putty for use in local machines provided with original corruption present (tm!). -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I'm finding this does not appear to work. You might get one message with text, but the replys from there on out consist of simply a name, date/time and three dots. No quoted text from the other responders. -- A computer without Microsoft is like a chocolate cake without mustard. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
