Hi, Just my 2 cents. 10.2RC1 is ready to go. Really, really smooth release. No matter how you shake it, this works. Both KDE and GNOME just work and look polished. This is from completely different planet than the 10.1. Great work folks. -- // Janne -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Personally I think it isn't quite there yet - but has possibilities. I am now installing it for the second time and on a different computer so will see if I get the same results as earlier. The UI is a bit different and takes a bit of getting used to because of the sudden difference to 10.1 and predecessors but I do like it. The whole thing seems snappier than 10.1 but I don't know if that is the latest kernel doing this or other tweaks from The Team. My biggest bitch at the moment is that I don't have sound from kradio and kdetv but it was suggested to me that the line-in may be muted (which is why I am installing RC1 again on the other computer as a control because I am sure that the line-in to the sound card is not muted). BTW, did you install from CDs or DVD? Cheers. -- "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use." IO seems to choke both 10.1 and 10.2 for me. Just made a bug of it: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223720 2.6.19-rc6 works about right. -- // Janne -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks! Looking at bugzilla I see a different story - but it's getting better every hour ;-) Cheers, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Using desktop effects with KDE pager (that cube thing) seems to occasionally minimize applications, namely on desktop 1. That's about all there is that hasn't worked on this system so far :) -- // Janne -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I too was super pleased with the install experience this time. Both with beta 1 and 2, I needed to repair grub manually (root is md0), but

I concur. I am doing as much as I can to make 10.2 a winner. BTW, I don't know what you all did to the fonts with RC1, but they have never looked better on my monitor.
