I have to delete all of the other CC's and there are about 5 or 6 of them. Furthermore, what would Blinux, Informix or multimedia lists have to do with a modem problem???? Frankly I would wager you'll get little or any response from the list based on this alone. Once again - blinux, multimedia, and informix have to do with your question? The general or dev/coders list may be more appropriate for this query on your problem. Curtis.

Yes, it's a shame he did that, because I have the same issue on SuSE 9.0 and was hoping someone might have been able to offer a solution. My D-Link usb modem shows up as: HWClass=modem Model=Conexant Systems (Rockwell) Modem Configured=yes Available=yes Needed=no Active=unknown Bus=0x86 Slot=0x103 BaseClass=0x102 VendorID=u0572 DeviceID=1300 VendorName=Conexant Systems (Rockwell), Inc. What happens if you use slip or ppp on /dev/ttyACM0 ? It looks like you have the right modules loaded - acm in particular.
Unfortunately, non of the standard dial-up tools can access this modem.
what sort of errors are you seeing? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/freetrial - sign up for your free 30-day trial now!

When I try to use slip or ppp on /dev/ttyACMO I get the message that the modem can't be accessed. Dave

Don't sweat it. This list is very user friendly and there is a lot of expertise on this list that will most likely be able to help you. One other thing I should mention. It is considered a tad improper to reply directly to someones post when the email's sent to the list. In otherwords, unless the sender (in this case myself) has asked to be contacted "off - list" (directly to there email addreass rather than the list address), or you can ask if they mind it's better to send replies to the list rather then the user. The list is setup to provide you with access to "all" the subscribers while attemping to keep some bit of a cushion. Once again usually because the list is best viewed in thread mode in order to track content and discussion and sending replies directly to the user breaks this and makes it harder to keep the continuity of the threads. Also, there are times when questions go unanswered. If this occurs repost the question - and perhaps change the title of the message to gain attention without being consider pushy or improper (I learned some of this the hardway :) ). If this post does indeed go unanswered then repost (lol - without the cc's - but then you knew that ). 8) Cheers, Curtis.
