Has anyone gotten a d-link 614+ router setup to auto notify www.dyndns.org? If so, how. I've tried all their things in the faq, and other sources, with absolutely no luck. All I get in the log is DDNS: no host. You are confused or my system (.no-ip.org) works differently. I have a deamon, /usr/local/bin/start.noip2, installed in /etc/init.d/boot.local that runs at boot to check my address and notify no-ip.org if it changes. <Knock on wood> But, in two years it has not changed. I was asked by roadrunner once when talking to a tech about virus infected locations attempting access to my machine if I would like them to change but I declined. I am almost certain that dydns.org operates the same way. I am sure that someone will correct me if I am in error here. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Have you tried ddclient? It's very easy to setup if you follow the red-hat installation in the readme. The only difference for SuSE is where it says to copy files to /etc/rc.d/init.d Just lose the rc.d bit. You can get it at the dyndns site. Good luck, Steve.

I'm not confused at all. My ip changes with telekom at the drop of a hat. The D-link router has the capability to do the notifications automatically. There is a screen on the router setup to fill out the info. I thought that someone might have gotten it to work. I guess no one got to that page. I don't know if this is the same situation, but I have a Linksys BEFSX41 that is supposed to have the same functionality. Unfortunately, it was broken when DynDNS.org updated their system because Linksys didn't follow the spec (see http://www.dyndns.org/services/dyndns/faq.html#93). I can still do updates using software on my comp that checks the ip using http://checkip.dyndns.org Maybe the D-Link has the same problem. -- trey

I've got the D-Link 604 router, and as Trey suggested, you could go to http://checkip.dyndns.org directly, or you could run the ddclient program to keep your IP up to date - it's a package available through YAST on SuSE 8.2 (I'm not sure about 8.1 or older.) My ddclient configuration then uses http://checkip.dyndns.org in the background (run from cron every hour or so.) I believe the ddclient source is also available on the dyndns.org web site. -- --------------------------------------------------- Dave Grosvold dave@rcanyon.com ---------------------------------------------------

Ok, I thought that was it. Thanks to both you and Trey. I did get it sort of working with ddclient, but it sent the local address which is on the same page as the dynamic address. Got to figure out how to get it to read the second one, and not the first.. Mine is a bit different, but I got it working. Sent a copy to the author in hopes it will be added. Took a bit of playing, but I got it. Thanks for your help and ideas.
