[opensuse] Number of days between forced fsck during boot
Hi list, I can't seem to find...where to control the number of days to elapse between forced fsck's during boot. And possibly, how to disable if so desired? -- ------------------------------ Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have an old note which states, in my shorthand :-) , "mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdd1; system will be checked every 20 mounts or 180 days; use tune2fs -c or -i to override". Hope this provides the right clue. No flame intended - but - that is why I love the reiserfs - it checks every time you boot and/or crash. -- Duaine Hechler Piano, Player Piano, Pump Organ Tuning, Servicing & Rebuilding Reed Organ Society Member Florissant, MO 63034 (314) 838-5587 dahechler@att.net www.hechlerpianoandorgan.com -- Home & Business user of Linux - 10 years -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Verner was trying to at minimise the checks or get rid of them completely- and not have them performed at each boot :-) . It is actually the same. All are checked on every boot, somehow or another, to determine that no "real" check is needed. The difference is that ext2 (and perhaps ext3) requires a periodic "real" check anyways. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
