I started with Slackware, jumped to Caldera, then RedHat, then Back to Caldera ( never could get Debian installed clean). Then I found SuSE (vs5.0). Put it on m y machine and liked what I saw. Had some questions about my trident board (stil l unanswered :-(, but generally happy. Then I found I could not install some more recent packages - posted a message - got several replies - SusE support directed me to the necessary packages to solv e my problem - but it entailed rpm'ing via ftp. Now I am not your most adventurous person, but I thought "what the heck". Kicke d off the necessary (supplied) commands, then went off to the store for car part s. Came back and "Voila!" packages installed. **I am Impressed!!** - great system!, great help! Thanks!! PS I think I'l repost my Trident video questions again:-)) Dave E. -Linux 2.0.30 -SuSE 5.0-- Linux - the choice of a GNU Generation--- No more Blue screen of Death - and no regrets - Goodbye Microsoft! ----------------------Cyrix 586/100-32meg-2g----------------------- SHAMELESS Plug:-- dedwards@technologist.com 23yr of MF exp. avail. for home-based outsourcing contracts. ------------------------------------------------------------------- -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
