[opensuse] Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 update coming as online update
Hi folks, The openSUSE maintenance team will be updating Mozilla Firefox from 3.5.11 to 3.6.8 in openSUSE 11.1 and 11.2. The updates are already in the -test update repos and will be put online some time next week. If you want to test, you can. (The -test repo is where we stage our updates. Only for experienced users. http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.2-test/ for 11.2 and http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.1-test/ for 11.1 (and http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.3-test/ for 11.3, but 11.3 already has the current Firefox though) Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have read warnings that it doesn't work with vmware-server. Is it true? <http://radu.cotescu.com/2010/01/19/how-to-install-vmware-server-ubuntu-fedora-opensuse/comment-page-7/#comments> ]> Radu April 7th, 2010 at 10:25 ]> ]> If by any chance you are using Firefox greater than 3.5.8, then VMware’s console plugin won’t work. <http://radu.cotescu.com/2010/01/19/how-to-install-vmware-server-ubuntu-fedora-opensuse/comment-page-15/#comments> ]> Radu August 5th, 2010 at 18:00 ]> ]> There’s nothing you can do to make the console plug-in work okay on FF greater than 3.5 from what I recall. But you can use the other .sh file to launch the console in a Gtk window after you have tried to install the plug-in in FF. I have 3.5.11 and it works, with some quirks, because, I understand, I installed it on a previous version and upgraded. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I don't know but Firefox 3.6 is out since some time so I would hope it works but if not what should we do about it? Between Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 there was an obsoleted plugin layer removed which was used in the past for the old Java plugin. If the VMware plugin uses the same then it won't work anymore. Probably other people on the list have experience with it? Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It still works for me, I think, because I installed it with a previous version of FF (when 11.2 was released), then upgraded wit the plugin already installed and working. I have a bit of difficulty with starting it, and I think it doesn't work at all via https. I don't know what can be done. It is proprietary software, after all, and vmware wants to dump the server version, which is the only one a bit "open". I ask because other people might know more about this problem :-? I understand the problem is with installation of the plugin, rather than later working with it. But I have not seen, or I lost it, a report or something explaining the problem. Maybe if vmaware buys Novell, as rumours say... :-p (ducking)
Probably other people on the list have experience with it?
Nobody has commented yet :-? - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
