As I have a problem with MSN in Kopete, I need to reinstall it. What package contains Kopete ?

Just know, according to the info on the Kopete page (http://kopete.kde.org), it will not be updated in a package until the next release of KDE. You will need to build from the source of the Kopete site. Wouldn't it be better to remove the hidden Kopete config file in your /home directory? If you remove the application and reinstall it, all the problems you're having probably won't be corrected... Linux isn't Windows. If an application worked initially, and you haven't tinkered with the installed files (for which you'd need to be root to do) then there is probably nothign wrong with the installed application. Delete the hidden .kopete folder, and restart Kopete... it will be back it's inital settings as if you had just installed it. Setup your MSN account again, and things should work again.

Better, do not delete it, just rename it to .kopete.old. This will help you to recover some of the settings if something goes wrong. Cheers Sunny

Sounds very easy, but .kopete is not to be found in the /home directory ? Your "home" directory is not /home but rather /home/your_user_name Look in -your- home directory for .kopete.

Hello, If you want to build kdenetwork with the stable version of kde-3.4 or with the sources of DVD2 you can use the patch I gave a week ago on "Kopete-devel", it solves the problem of MSN connection. Ready to send it, it is too big for this list !! Michel.

Actually the problem is that the authentication on the server side has changed. There is nothing that can be done short of a code fix. There is a patch that can be used with the latest version from the Subversion repository. A new release of KDE is due, and it should have the patch integrated. -- Jeff Dierking jeff@lordjester.com ------------------------ GPG/PGP KeyID 0x5F355DB4 Retrieve pgp-public-keys@pgp.mit.edu?subject=get%200x5F355DB4 ------------------------ Though in my opinion, Emacs just goes a teeny bit too far when it includes a web browser, directory editor, e-mail reader and news reader, and a version of othello! It ain't an editor it is a bloody kitchen sink. -- Nathan Hand, in comp.os.linux.development.apps

Hello, This is not fully true, there are two patchs one for Kde-3.3 branch and one for the stable kde-3.4 branch. These patchs were given by Ogoffart and me on the list : kopete-devel. The 3.4 patch is too big to be posted here but I can send it on request. Michel.
