[opensuse] Software Repositories wont add / work.
All I have been trying, without success, to add additional online repositories through the Yast tool. I have used the community repositories (once) which added the repo's but would always time out when trying to access them etc. I have tried manually adding them: e.g. a Packman mirror site Protocol: http Server: ftp.gwdg.de Directory on Server:/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/10.3 It tries to download the catalogue? and eventually errors with... ---Start error--- Unable to create repository from URL 'http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/10.3//' History: - Curl error for 'http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/10.3//repodata/repomd.xml': Error code: Error messgae: couldn't connect to host Try again? ---end error--- I have deleted all listed repo's from the configured list, and thought I'd try to add them again from the Community Repositories Yast module... it gets to 33% "Downloading list of online repositories..." and then errors with: ---Start Error--- Warning Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. OK ---End Error--- Can anyone help or have any ideas as I believe that this is also affecting the online updates too. Hi. Thanks for responding. Just tried without the leading slash and unfortunately still get the "couldn't connect to host message". This is really weird, I can browse the directory through firefox! Do you have to use a proxy? Or did you set up a proxy in YaST that is no longer valid (there is a "test" button in YaST proxy settings for checking the configured proxy)? Well, any ISP uses proxy to speed up download and save bandwidth that they have to pay for ie. from some server in Internet to their own network. Though after reading error mentioned in the first post again, it might be zypper database corruption, you may try to look in /var/cache/zypp/ and first just remove zypp.db and run zypper refresh to recreate them. Than try to add main oss repository, and then go to Comunity Repositories and add more. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the further suggestion. I'll try this also. Regards Ritchie -- Madam, there's no such thing as a tough child -- if you parboil them first for seven hours, they always come out tender. -- W. C. Fields
