Recently, my mail is downloaded from the service and /var/spool/mail/user continues to grow, but the mail does not make it to the mail client. If I do "rcpostfix stop", they show up; but, I cannot send. If I do "rcpostfix start", I can send, but the above problem persists. What setting in postfix am I setting wrong, or not setting at all? Postfix has done it's job. It has delivered your mail to your spool file. You need to tell us what your mail client is and whether you use procmail or some other mda. Your mail client should read either from your spool file or another file that procmail is delivering to. Also, it would be preferred if you would set a right margin of less that 78 in your web mailer (?polarbear?). -- Patrick Shanahan Please avoid TOFU and trim >quotes< http://wahoo.no-ip.org Registered Linux User #207535 icq#173753138 @ http://counter.li.org

I am using Mozilla 1.2.1 Mail; however,it does no better with polarbar or kmail. I don't know whether I use procmail or some other mda; this is a default 8.1 install. # # Your mail client should read either from your spool file or another # file that procmail is delivering to. How do I get it to read the spool file? I am on another 8.1 machine as I write this and it works flawlessly. # # Also, it would be preferred if you would set a right margin of less # that 78 in your web mailer (?polarbear?). Sorry. It was actually set for 80 with a large font--not a good combo. Ed Harrison, broadcasting on: L I N U X by SuSE (8.1), Kernel 2.4.20, X-server 4.2, PolarBarMailer 1.25rc9

By uninstalling postfix and several packages that depended on it, re-installing all of them and re-installing mozilla 1.2.1, the mail clients (plural) can receive mail. My problem now is a /var/spool/mail/"user" file of about 9.7Mb of unread e-mail. Is there a command to enable a mail client to receive those e-mails? Ed Harrison ed.tman@verizon.net

You could set up an IMAP account in Mozilla to check the mail and 'interactively' delete mail in that box. By the box name you should know the username, you just need their password. This works for me. HTH. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. I think that all he needs to do is to: cp /var/spool/mail/username >> /home/username/.mozilla/..../incoming and then to delete the index files. They will be regenerated and all should be well. To be save, backup your .mozilla/..../incoming mail file. -- Patrick Shanahan Please avoid TOFU and trim >quotes< http://wahoo.no-ip.org Registered Linux User #207535 icq#173753138 @ http://counter.li.org
