With Beta do we 'zypper up' or 'zypper dup' to update packages? (growing list of NOT installed)
All, I don't know why, but I seem to recall that with a Beta release, we should 'zypper dup' to update packages instead of 'zypper up'. I've been doing 'zypper up' out of habit and I have a growing list of The following 22 package updates will NOT be installed: Is this due to using 'up' instead of 'dup' on a Beta or is this just newer versions blocked due to "vendor change" not being automatically allowed? -- David C. Betas are full releases, like TW. Use dup if you wish to be up-to-date. Even so, the dup I just did left a big bunch of (System Packages), mostly *pytho*, output from: # cat /usr/local/bin/zypseo #!/bin/sh zypper --no-refresh se -si | grep 'tem Pac' | grep -v plication I wonder if the RC announcement got out before the mirrors were all sync'd? -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. OUCH!!! 2.48 GiB to dup to the latest 15.4 Beta. You were right, took care of the packages that were not going to be updated :) If it wasn't for the Texlive packages (or which there look to be about 1 GiB of, the dup would be relatively small. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully this will take care of the kmenuedit select-icon hang... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

I forgot to say, but you probably know, that when after release you should not use "dup". Jus saying for others reading this in the future ;-)

I don't suppose deltas are available in this situation.
