[opensuse] Cool login system
Hello mates, I recently switched to linux and to be specific openSUSE :-) . I am just curious about the cool features openSUSE has (I switched to it because of the features) . So I want to know , is there some feature like a really cool login system.Like we see in movies. The one I am talking about is - when you login there is voice saying "Welcome , would you please login" after you are done it says "Thank you sir" . Please dont consider this childish :-) . It would definetly attarct some more people towards openSUSE like me. Waiting to hear from you all soon. Ravi Its accessed via "System Settings/Advanced/Login Manager". You can download and change login themes to your heart content but the ability to change the login system in opensuse is "broken" (by design i think). The login theme never never changes. Its been like that for years. You have to manually edit the configuration files. You'll need to search the web for the changes to make. regards Ian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's been fixed for KDE SC 4.5. Will -- Will Stephenson, KDE Developer, openSUSE Boosters Team SUSE LINUX Products GmbH - Nürnberg - AG Nürnberg - HRB 16746 - GF: Markus Rex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Really?! I don't think so. I'm almost certain I've changed my GDM theme. I'll have to double check this evening. But I don't know if a login theme encompasses playing audio. GDM worked perfectly with my finger print reader - I have no idea if there is voice based authentication.

Maybe if you're able to explain why you must have voice... is it for accessibility (eg for someone who needs text-to-speech to work with their computer)? Just to have a cool login screen? Because you want to experiment with Linux? Knowing what you're trying to solve might help someone here provide a suggestion. So, basically you WANT to have a cool greeting from your computer. I think you can add a script running "echo "Wellcome $USER"| festival --tts " on the .kde4/Autostart directory in the case you use KDE4. Gnome must have something similar... You'll have to replace the ugly default voice though....
