Did you follow the suse instructions below http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/usbmice64.html I think this solved everything for me. The first time i did it, I missed out the last step, mk_initrd and of course it didnt work. Fine now. dids

My Suse 7.0 installs great with yast2 until my first or second use of the mouse and then I have no keyboard and no mouse.. they are both USB. Sax2 did not help.
Have found your Jan 10 msg where you say you have yours working but Ican't figure outhow you did it. I sure would appreciate some info. This is my first venture into Suse. The USB subject never came with Red Hat.

Yes I followed those instructions including the mk_initrd . But I got messed up on running lilo. I really did not know what I am supposed to be doing there. I'm glad I am at least in the right set of instructions. Now if you can give me a little steering on the lilo part maybe I can make it. Thanks! Jack On Sun, 21 Jan 2001, you wrote:

After solving my lilo problem I have been able to complete the suse instructions at http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/usbmice64.html. But I still have the problem. of losing both kb and mouse. Did you use sax2 prior to the suse instructions? I have tried it both ways. I got a little further using the instructions only. After loggin in I got started doing the settings for kmail but lost kb and mouse while typing. Are you using a USB keyboard ? Jack On Sun, 21 Jan 2001, you wrote:

I never used sax2 at all. I have an nvidia-gforce2mx which sax2 was difficult with. I already had a working xfree864.01 setup which was using /dev/mouse for the mouse, which was a ps/2 intellimouse i did the suse thing and then remapped /etc/XF86config, section for mouse as follows Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection I dont think i did anything complicated at all to get the mouse working ( I have v little patience ) I didnt use sax or yast or anything as i installed the usb mouse sometime after setting up suse7.0. So all i think i did was add the necessary lines to the /etc/rc.config file as described in the Suse Support Database. and changed the above. hmm i think theres some info about this in last months Linux Magazine(UK) something about a problem with the suse installation script being wrong. sorry but i have lost that issue. dids
