[opensuse] Display properties tool
Hi There is a gadget on my GNOME 'panel' with an icon of a set-square in front of a CRT. It invokes a module for fiddling around with screen resolution, and the like. It has no 'about' entry on it's right-click menu. I can't get rid of it. I say 'remove from panel' and - poof- it is gone. Next time I log in it is back! I have an HP2133. It only has a tiny screen, I need all the space I can get. I am never going to change the settings, let alone need to do it in a hurry. The thing, when clicked, asks for a root password, then after that dialogue vanishes nothing happens. How do I get rid of it? Run "gnome-session-save" after removing the applet from the panel. Do this when you have your desktop in a state you like, because it will try to reopen all your apps next time. At least in my case, I'm not asked if I want to save settings when I close session, so I have learned how to save manually. HTH. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
